My name is Stedman Trey Cook, and I am a scholar-athlete. I am a Senior at Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington DC, with a 3.4 GPA. I am a member of the National Honors Society. I was in all Honors Classes my Sophomore year, and this year I am taking four International Baccalaureate Classes. I’m a School Ambassador, a member of the Peer Ministry, and the Student Counsel at my school. I show young students around, tell them about my school, volunteer at our Open House events and take them to classes. I will attend and finish the University of Connecticut in the fall of 2016, studying Computer Engineering with a minor in Business. I'm a member of and was recently crowned Mr. Top Teen 2014 for the Top Teens of America, Inc., Prince George's County MD Chapter. I’m the Teen Chairman of the Senior Citizens Committee. I was also awarded the “2015 Young Man in the Making Award”. Top Teens of America is a mentorship program sponsored by the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., Prince George’s County Chapter, and focuses on Community Service, the elderly, literacy, community beautification, community partnerships, and mentorship. I’m also a member of a college preparatory program sponsored by the Gammi Pi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., called, "Project Enrich". This mentorship program helps youth with college applications, public speaking, and essay writing. I received an “Essay Contest Achievement” certificate from them in June 2014. I attend Ebenezer AME Church, sing in the Youth Choir, and participate in the Youth Activities there. This summer I was honored to be selected as one of five youth to represent our church at the Annual AME Youth Conferences in Nashville TN, and Hampton VA. I also played the clarinet for 5 years.
As an athlete, I have been running Indoor/Outdoor Track and playing Basketball since I was 6 years old. Archbishop Carroll High School awarded me a $2000 Scholarships for track and field for both my Junior and Senior year. I’m a District- Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area top ten sprinter (100M-11:04, 200M-22:04, 400m-50:40 dash) and I long jump (21’6). I won the 2014 & 2015 DCSAA Indoor Track 55M dash for the Washington DC area with a time of 6.64 seconds. This year, I was selected as Archbishop Carroll High School’s Outdoor Track Team MVP and I participated in the USA Track & Field Jr. Olympics Championship in Houston TX. Over my last four summers, I have been a member of the Glenarden Track Club, Landover, Maryland and the Knights Track Team of Fort Washington, Maryland. I have also played High School Basketball and Football.
I am the only son of Dean and Kimberly Cook, two Army Sergeant First Class Retirees from the United States Army and graduates of the University of Maryland University College. I really enjoy given back to the community. My other hobbies include playing the clarinet, playing basketball, computer training, reading, roller-skating, gaming, and hanging out with my friends. I will be attending the University of Connecticut Huskies this fall while major in Computer Engineering.
